SHELTER BAY MARINA

ComingInWeb8in

AFTER DROPPING OFF our linehandlers at Panamá Yacht Club, we motored Moody Blues over to an area called the “Flats” and anchored for the night. It was mid-afternoon, so we snoozed and read and snoozed and read. Then the next morning we asked permission to cross the channel and headed into Shelter Bay Marina, where Jan of Triple Stars took these shots. It’s nice to have your own personal photographer!

AS MIRAFLORA LOCKS open Moody Blues, still side-tied to Shibumi, get ready to head out into Gaillard Cut. (Webcam photo: Jan Anderson s/v Triple Stars)

Galliard Cut is a freeway of ships. In fact, the whole Panamá Canal is, as it operates 24/7.

We were shocked to have arrived at the Gatun Lake anchorage an hour early and be told we were going to have to spend the night on the lake. No excuse given, “just do it”. So we did it. Then the next morning our new Advisor, Jorge, showed up about 0930 and we headed for Gatum Locks, again side-tied to Shibumi and a Tri.
